Welcome to 2011. Here we are already in Febuary. The year is flying by.
I hope everyone had a happy and safe Holiday Season? That you are all refreshed and ready to face the challenges a new year brings us?
For us, the OEC executive, the year looks to be a busy one. Not only do we have the spring conference to deliver, but we are looking at putting on Fall Educationals.
We will keep you informed as to the Fall training as we develop it. As for the spring conference….well as some of you may already know…this year we have done something different to the format. This year we are sharing our conference with the Ontario Primary Forestry Council. We have been working with them to put on a joint Council day that we hope you will find more informative and beneficial?
We are still offering Educationals this year, they will be: Stewards 1, Advanced Steward, Collective Bargaining, Leadership / Officer Training and Train the Trainer from the CLC. These courses will run May 30th and 31st, with registration on the 29th. The idea is for individuals to select one of the classes to enroll in for the 2 days. All registrations need to be in before April 29th and the classes will be filled on a first registered first enrolled basis.
The conference will start on June 1st and run till noon on the 3rd, the 1st being the joint Council day.
We look forward to seeing all of our OEC members at the conference. It will be a great chance for you to network and socialize with fellow CEP members from another sector. Our theme for this years conference is “Leadership through Solidarity”. We decided that this would be the natural theme as our leaders shall be exhibiting Solidarity by learning, networking, and participating together in this conference. That through this Solidarity we will be able to pass on a more unified message to all of our members, and by providing a venue to bring leaders from 2 or more sectors together, we will expose them to common information, and by this experience there is potential to make better leaders for our members as well.
If you know of a CEP member who is in the Energy sector and is not part of the OEC, please give them my number and I would be glad to talk to them about the benefits they would enjoy by becoming a member.
See you at the conference….
